While we did not win, we are not defeated. This year, we set a new standard for Democratic campaigns in Wayne. We knocked on more doors, and talked about more issues, and raised more money than anyone can remember in a race like this. We planned and executed a direct mail campaign that focused on the positive: on the idea of a walkable, workable Wayne; on the voices of leaders and regular folks from all over town; and the idea that a town governed well is worth fighting for. And we got their attention -- drawing not one or two or three but FOUR seprate pieces of literature attacking me with scurrilous lies.

But rather than dwell on the past, let us focus on the future. In Wayne, we have tapped a deep and rich wellspring of grassroots support. People of all ages and backgrounds flocked to our campaign, and my promise to you is that we will stay active and involved. We will re-vitalize our local Democratic organization with your energy and your ideas. We will recruit smart people who understand the law to work the polls, we will cultivate top-notch candidates for every seat, and we will finally bring an alternative voice to the echo chamber of fear and falsehood that is our township government today.
